About Me
I’m Emily Ray, a virtual reading tutor and CERI-certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist. I help children who struggle with reading gain confidence, independence, and a love of learning through personalized, one-on-one tutoring.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: relationships come first, everything else second. I prioritize building a genuine connection with each child, then provide individualized, multisensory tutoring to help them succeed. My goal is to empower students with the skills and mindset to become lifelong readers.
I’m also a lifelong learner. I stay current by reading the latest research and listening to literacy podcasts to continually refine my practices and bring the most effective strategies to my students.
When I’m not teaching, I’m spending time with my husband, our 3-year-old daughter, Charlee, and our goldendoodle, Maizee. I love reading, crafting, practicing Pilates, and trying new recipes or restaurants.
Training and Expertise
CERI-Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist
Certified through CERI (Center for Effective Reading Instruction), I use evidence-based, Orton-Gillingham–aligned methods to support students with dyslexia and other reading challenges.
Orton-Gillingham Associate Certified Practitioner
I completed extensive training and supervised practicum hours in the Orton-Gillingham approach, allowing me to provide personalized, multisensory lessons that build literacy skills step by step.
MA Licensed Teacher
I began my career as a Massachusetts licensed teacher, gaining experience in classroom and small-group settings. This foundation continues to shape the work I do today.
